Cruxiom announcement #4
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided not to participate in any competitive events for the 2020 season. The most important goal for this season is player and community safety. We will not be competing in any Ultimate Canada or USAU events into the fall, even if they are pushed back. This, however, does not mean that our Cruxiom system is going to be M.I.A. until the 2021 season; we are currently running The Alternate Season for May and June, we have started a Book Club on current issues, we will be learning by participating in online training and educating ourselves on the global issues at hand. We will also stay connected with our communities as much possible. We recognize the egregious injustices we see happening in Canada, the United States, and the larger global community. We acknowledge that white supremacy is embedded into every facet of our culture and society and that we are not immune to it. We vow to do better. We will be taking time as a team and as individuals this season to educate ourselves and to stand up for what we believe in. We believe that Black Lives Matter. We believe that Indigenous Lives Matter. We believe that People Of Colour Lives Matter. We are committed to upholding values of equity and inclusion in our sport and in our lives. We are committed to challenging and doing our part in dismantling the systemic racism that is built into our societies. We believe that everyone is entitled to basic human rights regardless of skin colour, race, sexual identity, gender identity, and religious identity. What it comes down to- If you do not believe in these basic rights for everyone, and are unwilling to explore and change your beliefs, then you are not welcome to be a part of our community. We will continue to fight for justice, for equity, for peace. If you have any resources you would like us to share with our Cruxiom family and community please email us at [email protected] Cruxiom Do what’s possible!

OUR DECISIONS as of April 6, 2020
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR DECISIONS AT THIS TIME
WHAT YOU CAN DO AT THIS TIME We encourage all players that were interested in playing with Cruxiom to “Save the Date” in their schedules for Wednesday nights from May 6th to August 12 from 6:30 pm to 9pm and dedicate this to your love of ultimate and keeping in touch with your ultimate family.
Cruxiom Leadership The mixed touring teams from South Western Ontario (Thunder, Crux, Axiom, and Khaos) believe strongly in fostering development and retention of ultimate players in our region. We have been really excited over the last few months as we developed a cooperative approach to tryouts, scrimmages, and support for the 2020 season.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 had other plans. At this point, large gatherings of athletes are not allowed per the provincial and federal government. Sadly, this means our plans for collaborative SW Ontario events do not currently seem possible or prudent. None of us are certain what the upcoming season might look like but we will be posting updates as we can. We encourage interested players to stay tuned to their local teams in the coming weeks as we all adapt to new information. Each team will provide season and tryout information as it becomes possible to make these plans. We look forward to next season and beyond when we can continue to build a SW Ontario Ultimate collaboration in a safe and healthy way! Dear Cruxiom Community,
Family is never cancelled. Amidst the evolving global pandemic we want everyone to center and focus on what’s important and in our control: our health, and the health and safety of those we love. We are monitoring the situation with COVID-19 carefully and will continue to make decisions that are in the best interest of everyone’s safety. Expressions of Interest for our team and what our season might look like in 2020 will be released at an appropriate time. Our leadership crew is staying informed and discussing all options. If you want to reach out to us with ideas, questions or just to say hi, please message [email protected] or contact us on Facebook or Instagram. Stay connected. Stay healthy. OUR DECISIONS as of March 27, 2020: No USA tournaments for 2020. Our club was exploring USA tournament options for 2020. Due to border closures in effect, health and safety, and the US pandemic landscape, we will not be participating in any USA tournaments for the summer 2020 season. This will be tabled to 2021 tournament planning. Events cancelled until May 3, 2020. We will mimic Ultimate Canada timelines as appropriate and post-pone or cancel any Cruxiom planned events in parallel to their cancellation schedule. This includes: Try-out #1 – April 25 – cancelled. We are considering all our options. Try-out #2 – May 3 – cancelled. We are considering all our options.
